HEARTLANDS CONTRIBUTES TOWARDS WORLD AIDS DAY

Cruise Bar in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, will be joining millions of concerned citizens around the globe on 01 December, World Aids Day, when it aims to raise awareness of the HIV AIDS pandemic.

According to this popular late-night spot’s General Manager: Public Relations, Bruce Walker, the Heartlands’s management and staff are not only committed to raising awareness, but also to making a difference in the lives of those infected and affected, especially mothers and children.

“We will place a box at the entrance to Cruise from 20 November and urge our patrons to place items such as toys, children’s clothing, blankets or anything else that might cheer up a child over the Christmas period therein.”

All donations and gifts will be handed over to the children of Nkosi’s Haven in Melville on 24 December.

In addition, the owners plan on erecting a four meter high HIV AIDS ribbon around the bar’s entrance.

“Our location on a high traffic volume street in Braamfontein should go a long way to create awareness amongst passers-by, and the popularity of the venue will ensure top-of-mind awareness amongst our gay and lesbian patrons”, said Walker.

Another HIV AIDS-related charity, African Mother, has also been invited to sell their crafts at Cruise from Thursday, 01 December to Saturday, 03 December. The crafts are handmade by HIV positive mothers, and the funds raised through the sale of their wares will go directly to them.
