HUNDREDS PROTEST MURDER OF CANADIAN MAN

Close to 1,000 people came out on Sunday to protest the recent murder of a Canadian gay man who was beaten and then deliberately run over.

It remains unclear why Christopher Skinner was brutally attacked in downtown Toronto while walking home after a party just over a week ago, but police have not ruled out homophobia as a possible motive.

No one has been arrested for the murder although the authorities believe that more than one person was involved. They have released surveillance images of the black SUV that is believed to have killed the 27 year old graphic designer who was engaged to his partner Ryan Cook.

On Sunday, friends, family and the public gathered in the city to hold a vigil for Skinner. A moment’s silence was held before the crowd marched to the scene of the crime where candles, flowers, banners and cards were left behind.

The attack has left members of the city’s gay and lesbian community in shock. Toronto is widely perceived to be one of the world’s most gay-friendly cities.
