RICKY MARTIN NEW FACE OF MAC LIPSTICK
Gay Latino singer Ricky Martin has, together with hip-hop star Nicki Minaj, been named the new face of MAC cometic’s Viva Glam 2012 campaign.
The two stars will promote the company’s Viva Glam lipstick products, which were specifically created to raise funds for HIV and AIDS causes.
According to MAC, “every cent of the selling price of Viva Glam Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the MAC AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.”
A reported $224 million has been raised to-date from sales of the limited edition lipstick.
Martin and Minaj take over from current Mac Viva Glam spokesperson, Lady Gaga.
The new campaign is being shot by celebrity and fashion photographer David La Chappelle in Miami and will be launched in February.
It’s unclear if Martin will actually wear the lipstick for the campaign.
On Tuesday the sex symbol tweeted: “Gr8 day in the studio w gorgeous @NICKIMINAJ and the 1& only David @LaChapelleland Wait till u see the madness!”
Previous stars who promoted the Viva Glam campaign have included Elton John, RuPaul, k.d. lang, Mary J. Blige, Lisa Marie Presley, Christina Aguilera, Boy George, Fergie and Cyndi Lauper.
