US FOOTBALL STAR SCORES FOR GAY MARRIAGE

American football star Scott Fujita has come out in support of same-sex marriage in a video for a marriage equality campaign.

The 32-year-old National Football League (NFL) Superbowl champion says in the clip: “I support marriage equality.”

“As an NFL linebacker, I play the game tough, but fair. I’ve been married for twelve years and I know that it is unfair to keep other loving and committed couples from getting married and protecting their families.”

Fujita concludes by asking: “Please join me, and the majority of Americans, in support of marriage equality.”

Fujita was a member of the 2010 World Champion New Orleans Saints team and plays for the Cleveland Browns.

His ad is the seventh released by the Human Rights Campaign for its ‘Americans for Marriage Equality’ drive. The series has thus far included testimonials in support of same-sex marriage by Oscar winner Mo’Nique, civil rights legend Julian Bond, Emmy Award winner John Leguizamo, acclaimed Broadway playwright Katori Hall, and The Good Wife actor Josh Charles.

About 53% of the American public supports marriage for same-sex couples, according to a number of nonpartisan polls, including Gallup, CNN, and Washington Post/ABC News.
