Eugene Terre’Blanche’s widow has dismissed claims that her late husband raped one of the men who allegedly killed him.

Martie Terre’Blanche has this week been testifying in Ventersdorp about her husband’s murder in April 2010 on his farm just outside the town.

Terre’Blanche, once the feared head of the AWB right wing group, was beaten to death with pipes and machetes, allegedly by farm labourers Chris Mahlangu (29) and a 16-year-old youth.

Shortly after the killing there were reports that semen had been found on Terre’Blanche’s body and there were suggestions that the attack was triggered by a sexual assault on Mahlangu.

It was also reported that Terre’Blanche’s pants were pulled down and that his genitals were exposed.

According to SAPA, on Wednesday, Martie Terre’Blanche was asked in court about Mahlangu’s claim that her husband sodomised him on the day of the murder and on previous occasions.

“It is totally unacceptable. Eugene would never in his whole life do something like that,” she replied. “If I look at his integrity and his political view it is absurd,” she added.

While Mahlangu says that he killed Terre’Blanche in self defence, the younger accused has denied any involvement in the killing. They are facing charges of murder and robbery.

There have been claims of previous sexual impropriety by Terre’Blanche.

Journalist Max du Preez, who reported on an incident in the 1980s in which Terre’Blanche was alleged to have molested a bodyguard, said that “It’s not a complete secret that Eugene had some of these tendencies”.

At the time of the murder, the AWB’s Andre Visagie dismissed claims that Terre’Blanche had same-sex sexual relationships.

“Don’t be ridiculous man. He called them [gay people] ‘moffies’ all the time,” Visagie told Eyewitness News.
