ANOTHER BRUNO BRONN SUSPECT RELEASED ON BAIL
Another of the four men accused of murdering gay nightclub owner Bruno Bronn in February has been granted bail by the Cape Town District Court.
On Tuesday, Fareez Allie (29) was released on bail of R5000. His co-accused Kurt Erispe (35) was granted bail late last month.
The other two suspects in the murder case, John Frederick Coetzee (36) and Achmat Toffa (35), have not pursued bail applications.
Magistrate Jasthree Steyn justified giving Allie bail because he had denied taking part in the murder and that there was no evidence placing him at the scene of the crime.
According to the police, Allie exchanged a coin collection stolen from Bronn’s home for the drug tik after driving to a drug den in Bronn’s stolen car and he was also found in possession of Bronn’s perfume.
Steyn dismissed the petition by friends of Bronn and the city’s gay community calling on the court to deny the men bail, saying that the accused must be considered innocent until found guilty.
He added that Allie was unlikely to pose any threat to the public but he was warned by the magistrate not to engage in any criminal activity.
The case will resume on 26 April.
Bronn’s body was found by a domestic worker at his Sea Point home on 7 February. It is believed that he was strangled to death.
He was the owner of the once-popular Bronx and Navigaytion nightclubs that had recently closed down.
Yeh right, no evidence placing him on the scene, there’s plenty???
