US Consulate Leaders Celebrate Aurum POP INN’s Work in Durban

US Consulate General Principal Officer Ms Josie Ratcliffe and Deputy Chief of Mission Dana M Brown recently visited the Aurum POP INN clinic located in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

This visit served to underscore the remarkable progress made by the Aurum POP INN project in effectively addressing the healthcare needs of marginalised communities, specifically Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and Transgender Women (TGW), within the district.

During the visit, the delegation was guided through the clinic by Vee ka Nkosi, the Aurum POP INN Communications Officer.

Key personnel who participated in the tour included Senior Programme Manager Matshidiso Chabane, CDC Key Populations Lead Helen Savva, Technical Director Jacqui Pienaar, Mthobisi Sibisi, the Durban POP INN Project Coordinator, and Mapaseka Mabena, the Project Coordinator for the Centres of Excellence.

As they toured the clinic, the group observed the various operations and services being provided, engaging in discussions with staff members to gain insight into their crucial roles in delivering health care to the community.

In addition to observing the clinic’s operations, Consul General Ratcliffe and Deputy Chief of Mission Brown took the opportunity to interact directly with clients.

Their conversations highlighted how the Aurum POP INN project has positively influenced the lives of individuals within these communities, fostering a supportive environment for their health and well-being.

Both officials expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff, leadership, and beneficiaries of the Aurum POP INN project for their unwavering commitment and the significant contributions they have made to improve health outcomes in the area.

This visit not only acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the clinic but also reinforced the importance of such initiatives in promoting health equity and accessibility for all.
