2025 Cape Town Pride Festival: First Details Announced
The 2025 edition of the Cape Town Pride Parade and Mardi Gras is set to paint the city in rainbow colours on Saturday 1 March. Here’s everything you need to know.
Organisers promise that this year’s event will be the largest Pride celebration the city has ever seen, attracting visitors from LGBTI+ communities around the world.
Cape Town Pride aims to unites Africa’s rainbow community, celebrating the diversity of the city and its people under the 2025 theme of “Rainbow ID.”
A schedule of other Pride Festival events starting from 6 February that lead up the the march will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Mr & Miss Cape Town Pride Pageant has, however, already been confirmed to take place on 8 February from 18:00 at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone
As always, participation in the Pride March is free. The march will be followed by the Mardi Gras celebration at Green Point Track, which requires tickets for entry.
The Mardi Gras promises a day of fabulous live performances and DJs. It will feature a Pride Village Market offering LGBTQIA+ merchandise, food stalls, bars, refreshment stations, a children’s area, and chill-out spaces.
The VIP area at this year’s festival has been relocated from the clubhouse to a marquee directly in front of the main stage. Limited to 200 guests, the VIP area offers complimentary drinks and canapés throughout the day. VIP guests will also have access to private ablution facilities, and main stage performers will drop by for meet-and-greet sessions.
The clubhouse will serve as a dedicated area for sponsors and a media station this year.
This family-friendly event has a few restrictions: no pets, cooler boxes, tents, or shisha pipes are allowed.
Tickets for the Mardi Gras are limited by the venue, so be sure to book yours before they sell out on Quicket.
Standard tickets are R50 and will increase to R65 after 15 January. VIP tickets are priced at R550 per person.
