A business entrepreneur, surfing coach and commentator, cover model, MC and accomplished actor, Dene also holds the accolade of being South Africa’s “most irresistible man” after winning e-TV’s Axe Sweet Life reality TV competition this year. “Confident. Real. Adventurous. Sensitive. A communicator. And very approachable,” is how Dene describes himself. We would certainly add damn fine, sexy and HOT! |

Bringing a scorching Latin flavour to our list, Federico Fernandez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Luckily for us, he’s made South Africa his home. We first got to know him as a model strutting his stuff on Fashion Week ramps but his true love is music. Performing in bands since the age of 13, he’s now making waves as the guitarist in the band Son of a 1000 Blues. Federico seems to have it all: a very lucky South African wife, a thriving band (a debut album is in stores) and a new baby boy. There are also plans to take the band’s sound to the rest of the world. Whatever happens, we hope Federico keeps returning to SA to keep us entertained with his charm, buff bod and meltingly sexy accent. |

Perhaps you should ask…. Perhaps you should ask the many black celebrities that refused to take part why this is the case? I have it on good authority that the organisers of the survey struggled to get people of colour to take part. Our black gay community remains steeped in self-loathing and internalised homophobia. Shame!
Black guys. Most black guys are in the closet hey and that’s why they are so afraid to take part in the survey and that’s the reason why they didnt lke the kissing and cuddling that took place on the soapie “generations” because they saw that as a way of exposing themselves…..

Where are the Black African men?. Surely, there are also sexy Black African men in our country? Whay are then none on this list? As a proud GBM, I wish to see the full spectrum of men in South Africa being represented – surely mamba should realise that with over 70% Black Men in South Africa – representivity is important. What about Kaiser Motaung? Romeo Kumalo? Thabang Moeketsane? et al.

However, we sadly had a very poor response from the vast majority of the male celebrities of colour that we approached. This does not in any way diminish our commitment and enthusiasm to keep working towards improving the representative nature of the candidates in future. Nor does it in any way reduce the sexiness of our current finalists; the vast majority of whom are straight and very happy to take part. For this we salute them.

As much i also want to express my sincere disappointment on brothaz of colour not being selected for this year’s competition i would also want to agree and thank the editor for the clarity. I think we have to understand that many brothers out there dont want to take part simple becoz they probably think that they will be labelled gays once they take part.for sure we have a lot of potential guys that would have been here, the likes of Kaizer Motaung Junior (Soccer player), Lungelo, the list goes but im sure they wouldnt want to be part of this out of their own personal reasons…….
