Watch: Christian homophobe laughs at gay man’s grief
How low can you go? An anti same-sex marriage protester has shamefully laughed at a gay man talking about the death of his husband.
The appalling incident happened on Monday on the steps of the Alabama Supreme Court following an address by the state’s suspended chief justice, Roy Moore.
The homophobic and religiously conservative Moore is facing charges of ethical violations after he illegally ordered judges in Alabama to refuse to marry same-sex couples, defying the Supreme Court’s June 2015 ruling legalising same-sex marriage.
After Moore spoke, some of his supporters repeatedly interrupted a separate nearby press conference by LGBT group Human Rights Campaign on the steps of the court, in which LGBT people spoke out about their experiences.
As one man, Dr. Paul Hard, opened up about his struggle to have his late spouse acknowledged as his husband, one of Moore’s supporter responded by laughing out loud.
In mocking tone he spat out at Hard: “You can’t have a husband!”
Writing for AL.com, John Archibald expressed his shock at the man’s inhuman cruelty, writing that “there is a point at which the anger becomes irreconcilable with the religion. That point came Monday”.
He asked: “How can any man, no matter his position on Roy Moore or any issue, stand before another and mock his pain? How can one stand under the banner of God and laugh at another man’s death? How — in the name of God — can one deride genuine grief?”
Archibald added: “Christians cannot let these people define their religion. All they have is volume. As a substitute for moral authority.”
Do you know it sounds if a man calls another man my husband? This is stupidity personified, I am sure he didn’t laugh at the person who pass on, but he laugh at one man calling another my husband. It really sounds stupid and I will also laugh if a man tells me another man is his husband. This is not news, any person in his right mind will laugh at a statement like this. Homosexuals are really confused to think that society have to accept these terms. You try to stop us traveling because we have the backbone to preach against sin, now you want to tell us when we must laugh. Really you guys need help you are sick, you need Jesus in your lives. Homosexual lifestyle is abnormal and people will always laugh at the stupidity of homosexuals.
Sit down and be quiet you irrelevant, desperate fecal stain on humanity. To any person in his right mind your prattling on about your views derived from a life dedicated to a fairy tale would make him laugh. When people speak of what they do not know they only serve to confirm their idiocy. You have excelled at this. Well done. Now take your judgement somewhere else.
