Face palm | Kenya’s chief censor demands ‘gay lions’ get counselling

In hilarious yet troubling comments, Kenya’s chief censor is now demanding that two male lions seen having sex in a national park get counselling for their “abnormal behaviour”.

The two ‘gay lions’ were recently captured nuzzling and mounting each other by wildlife photographer Paul Goldstein in the Masai Mara reserve.

After the pictures were shared in the international media, Ezekial Mutua, the staunchly homophobic CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), decided to share his outrage over nature’s slight to the nation’s moral fibre.

In an interview with Nairobi News, Mutua said the animals should be separated so that they could not spread their “bizarre” behaviour to other lions. He also questioned if they were really male.

“We (KFCB) do not regulate animals, but this is a first and interesting to hear that there are two male lions in love. Some research needs to be done. And also I wish I can get the bio to confirm the two lions were actually male, because it is not normal,” he said.

In possibly one of the most absurd statements this year, Mutua suggested that the lions may have ‘learned to be gay’ after watching a gay human couple having sex in the park.

“These animals need counselling, because probably they have been influenced by gays who have gone to the national parks and behaved badly. I don’t know, they must have copied it somewhere or it is demonic. Because these animals do not watch movies,” he mused.

Mutua then argued that the lions are probably possessed by demons. “I mean where on earth have you ever heard something like this happening? The demonic spirits inflicting in humans seems to have now caught up with animals.”

He continued: “That is why I will say isolate the crazy gay animals, study their behaviour because it is not normal. The very idea of sex even among animals is for procreation. Two male lions cannot procreate and therefore we will lose the lion species.”

The false belief that same-sex sexual behaviour is ‘unnatural’ is the basis for much opposition to LGBT equality.

Mutua, who is known for banning films, music videos and TV shows that affirm the LGBT community, appears to be unaware that homosexuality in nature is common and same-sex attraction has been documented in over 1,500 species.

In fact, as recently as August, two male lions were also photographed having a romantic moment in a wildlife park in Doncaster, England.

This week, Mutua was behind the KFCB banning the Disney teen series Andi Mack for including a gay character.
