GOLDIN AND BLOOM LAID TO REST

Advertorial

Popular TV, film and stage actor Brett Goldin and fashion designer Richard Bloom, who were brutally murdered last weekend, have been laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg.

The two men were killed execution style in Cape Town – allegedly by nine suspects who have now been arrested – in an apparent hijacking. Their bodies were found naked near the M5 highway. Robbery remains the official motive.

Goldin and Bloom were buried Friday morning at a funeral attended by family and hundreds of emotional mourners who came to pay their respects. Celebrity friends, including Colin Moss, who starred with Goldin in the film Crazy Monkey: Straight Outta Benoni, actor Carl Beukes and comedian David Ka, were also in attendance.

Rabbi Ari Shisler, who presided over Goldin’s funeral, said that, “words don’t do justice to the shock, anger and pain – they will never explain why.”

Toney Leon, head of the DA has used the double murder as an example of what he claims is the government’s failure to address crime in South Africa. “This terrible crime has sent a shudder throughout South Africa and around the world. The awful reality is that Brett and Richard are not alone among the recent victims of South Africa’s crime wave.” he wrote on the party’s website.

Goldin, who had packed his bags before his death for a trip to perform in Hamlet in Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK, will be honoured by the Royal Shakespeare Company which has dedicated the production to the actor.
