ANOTHER US POLITICIAN IN GAY CRUISING SCANDAL

Advertorial

Another homophobic Republican politician in the US has been implicated in a gay cruising scandal.

Bob Allen, a senior member of the Republican Party in the Florida State Senate, has been found guilty of soliciting oral sex from a policeman in July.

According to the authorities, 48 year old Allen offered to pay an undercover police officer, Danny Kavanaugh, $20 to be allowed to perform oral sex on him in a public toilet in a park in Titusville, Florida.

The officer said that the married politician looked over a toilet cubicle at him and then moved into the cubicle where he negotiated the fee.

While he has been found guilty by the courts, Allen insists that he is innocent and has demanded a retrial.

“We are continuing to seek justice. I am innocent. My family, my God and my good constituents know that,” he told reporters after the verdict was announced.

It is expected that he will be removed from office following the conviction.

In August, it was revealed that Republican senator Larry Craig pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after being arrested for soliciting sex from an undercover policeman in a Minneapolis airport men’s toilet.

He subsequently attempted to reverse his plea, unsuccessfully, and has insisted that he too is innocent.

Allen will be sentenced on Thursday and could face up to 60 days in county jail and a $500 fine.

Ironically, earlier this year, Allen sponsored a bill in the state senate to increase penalties for public lewdness.
